Quote of the Day: Talent is helpful in writing, but guts are absolutely essential.–Jessamyn West

Publisher’s Notes:

Good morning! Faye has some words about this week’s question:“I noticed today’s quote — very poignant given the fact that there have been no answers to the question you posted on Monday! Guess everybody is so busy with projects this week, they haven’t had time to answer.

One of the things I have learned as a freelancer is how good my writing is and that I can do some things as an editor that are uncommon in the marketplace. I have been looking for ways to capitalize on that from a marketing perspective.

I have also been learning how long things take me and how much I need to charge in order to live off my work. That, in turn, has led me to look for ways to find the clients who will pay what I’m worth, without balking. Still working on that. If anyone has any words of wisdom, I’d sure love to hear!

Because I am very versatile (marcom, article writing, book editing, magazine copy editing, course writing…) I have been experimenting to find my most comfortable niches and where my expertise really lies. I like the variety and haven’t figured out an answer to that yet, although I love book editing and have a great deal to offer there because of the depth in which I work.

Thanks for the great job you’re doing!”

Thanks Faye!

That’s it for today. Have a wonderful day!
